BUY N.Z. GOODS

MR. COATES’S SUPPORT UNEMPLOYMENT REMEDY Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, March 10. It is the opinion of the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, that the unemployment trouble would be solved if all citizens did their part by purchasing New Zealanders goods and thus stimulating our industries, and Mr. A. F. Stacey, of Christchurch, whose recent report on unemployment ha sattracted attention, has received the following letter from him In the course of our conversation the serious problem of unemployment seemed to concern both of us. We are keen and anxious to help in setting the course most likely to give immediate relief and at the same time not.increase the burden our citizens will have to bear in the future. I am sure a great measure of relief would follow, if our citizens would help our local industries by buying New Zealand-made products. This will appeal to all true New Zealanders. If all can realise that by buying New Zealand goods a great stimulous must follow, with a greater output, more employment and less imports. The slogan must be: Buy New Zeaiand goods and make more work for New Zealanders.” These thoughts in no way contravene our duty to the Mother Land or our Empire. If the goods required by citizens every day cannot be purchased at a reasonable price made in New Zealand, our next duty is to purchase Britishmade goods and articles. A wholehearted determined effort on the part of all to help in buying our home-made requirements will go a long way m helping thousands of workmen and women who are now up against it.
