CANADIAN BOWLERS
THOROUGHLY SUCCESSFUL TOUR “TWO SPLENDID COUNTRIES” Dominion Special Service. Auckland, March 10. Twenty-five of the party of 37 Canadian bowlers who toured New Zealand and Australia are on board the Aorangi, which arrived at Auckland from Sydney this morning. Three of the original party remained in New Zealand and the balance have started out on a world’s tour before returning to their home eountF “We -have nothing but praise for the Australian people,” said Mr. R. Gray, vice-captain and aeting-secretary of the party. “We had the unique experience of being allowed to take part in the interstate bowling tournament there, and we were agreeably surprised to win a couple of games against State teams. Considering that the Canadians were a touring party we consider it a bit of an achievement.” ... . “Taking the tour all round, it has been a most successful one from every point of view,” he continued. “We have met hospitality everywhere, and I would like to mention at this stage how we did appreciate our reception in New Zealand. Until this tour we business men in Canada did not know nor did we realise what Australia and New Zealand could produce, and more particularly manufacture. The establishment of secondary Industries in New Zealand and Australia has opened our eyes. We will go back to Canada as walking advertisements and publicity agents for these two splendid countries the Southern Qross. A word in conclusion, however: we really think that you both need more population. New Zealand, in particular, is a great country, which has only touched on the fringe of its productive capabilities. There is a great field in the Dominion for the farmer and the agriculturist. Get the right sort of man on the land and this country will never look back.
