•Success attended the Railway Department’s week-end excursion to Wanganui. Fully 200 passengers made the trip, the organisation and pleasantness of which are reported to have been the subject of much favourable comment. Leaving Wellington at 12.55 p.m. on Saturday, Wangatui was reached at 6.20 p.m. on Sunday at 9.30 a.m., approximately 100 passengers took the opportunity of seeing some of the sights on the Wanganui River. The journey was made by boat, Parakina Pa being the destination. There, about an hour was spent before the commencement of the return journey. During that time the visitors were entertained by the Maoris with hakas and dances. Wanganui was reached at 5 p.m.. and after an hour there for tea, the train left for Wellington, where it arrived at 11.20 p.m.
