WARD MEMORIAL CHURCH
DEDICATION CEREMONY The handsome new structure in Northland which will be kqown as the “Ward Memorial Church” was filled to overflowing on Saturday night when the dedication service was held. At 7 o’clock the congregation assembled outside the church where the proceedings , were opeijed by the singing of the hymn "All People that on Earth do Dwell.” After a prayer offered by . the Rev. J. Dennis, and short addresses by the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup) and the Rev. C. E. Ward, the president of the Conference (Rev. J. F. Goldie) knocked on the closed doors of the church, saying: “Lift up your heads. O ye gates, and be ye lift up ye everlasting doors, and the King of Glory shall come in.” From witijin the church, the Rev. J. Dennis said: “Who is the King of Glory?” to which the president answered: “The Lord of Hosts. He is the King of Glory.” Then the Rev. C. E. Ward, a son of the pioneer Primitive Methodist minister in the Southern Hemisphere, opened the doors with a golden key. Mr. Ward was the first to enter the church, followed by members of his family and'the trustees and older members of the congregation. After the large congregation had assembled inside the building an impressive service was held, the ministers officiating being the Revs. J. Dennis. C. E. Ward. E. ,D. Patchett and J. F. Goldie.
