She has already been social head at Embassies at Constantinople, and for the last two and a half years .at Berlin, so she has gone to Washington, as an expert. Miss Margaret Bondfield, Minister of Labour in the British Cabinet, gave a Christmas party to about 3t>o members of the staff of the Ministry of Labour at Montagu House. The guests were of rII grades, from typists to employment office managers, chosen by ballot from the headquarters of the Ministry, the I.oudon divisional headquarters. employment exchanges, and the offices at Kew Apart from the loan of the building' Miss Bondfield did it out of her own pocket and quite unofficially, a fact that, was much appreciated. Miss Bondfield felt that owing to the recent accident to her ' leg she ha'd not been able to get about and meet members of the staff as she would otherwise have dohe. She therefore wished to meet as many as possible quite informally, and this was the primary object, of the party. .

A new opening for women has been ’ created in England by the Women’s Automobile and Sports Association, which has been formed to look after the interests of women motorists and sportswomen generally.. The association is arranging to put uniformed women patrols on the road in the near future. These skilled mechanics will be mounted on motor-cycles "and will be able to render first aid where necessary. The association also intends to provide caravans at frequent intervals and to make provision for medical assistance in every centre.
