NOT FOR ENGLAND
WELLINGTON’S BELLS "I think ‘The Dominion’s* comment was quite ample,” said Mr. EL D. Bennett, chairman of the Carillon Committee yesterday, when the ‘Dally Express’s’ suggestion that the carillon should remain permanently at Hyde Park as a memorial to Earl Haig was referred to him, together with the footnote that such a proposal was not likely to be approved by those in this city who had subscribed towards the bells.
“This proposal that the bells should remain in England is the second one that has been made,” said Mr. Bennett. “There was a similar one, while the carillon was at Newcastle. The idea Is impracticable since each of the bells had private inscriptions upon them.”
