ECONOMIC ADVISORY COUNCIL

ANNOUNCEMENT BY MR. MACDONALD PROBABLE MEMBERS London. January 22. In the House of Commons, Mr. MacDonald announced that the Government had decided to appoint an Economic Advisory Council, of which he would be chairman. The council would absorb the existing Committee of Civil Research. He hoped to secure the services of two whole-time economists. A White Paper would shortly be issued explaining the council’s scope and functions. (Rec. January 23, 0.40 p.m.). London, January 23. It is understood that Air. MacDonald’s whole-time economists are likely to be Mr. H. D. Henderson, formerly editor of the “Nation,” and Mr. G. D. 11. Cole, reader of economics at the University of Oxford, recently described by Airs. Snowden as a possibue future Prime Alinister.
