DAMAGE TO HOUSE Dominion Special .Service. ’’ Auckland. January 22. During a thunderstorm lightning struck the residence of Harold Hames, near I’aparoa railway station. A flush struck a post and telephone line at the top of a neighbouring hill, splitting the post right down, and running down the wire to the house. The flame shot right through the building, and scorched the wall. Mrs. Hames and her mother, Mrs. Wall, were in the House, and extinguished the flame. Little damage was done to the house. . Subsequent examination ot. the. telephone line showed that 10 chains oi wire had been b-vned, leaving ouly a lew fragment#.
