SPEEDWAY CONTESTS

CHEVROLET CUP RACE. New attractions are included in the events to be decided at the Kllbirnte Stadium Speedway to-morrow night, and it Is likelv that another Australian rider will be competintx for the first time on the local track.- F. Pearce and C. Spinks will make their last appearance before going to Auckland and Christchurch respectively, and they will be matched again. Various special contests have been arranged for the meeting, and in the' course of events Spinks and Pearce will be able to settle their claims to superiority on the track, while Wally KHmister, the New Zealand champion, will also come into the reckoning. A big feature of the meeting will be the Chevrolet International Cup contest, 'in which all the leading riders will compete under rolling start conditions. The handsome cup. which is to be won outright, has been presented by General Motors. N.Z.. Ltd., and the claims to possession or it are bound to account for the keenest competition yet seen at the Stadium. Juasing by the programme, the meeting should be one of the best from all points of view. The local riders continue to show muck improvement, and they can be expected to keep the redoubtable visitors moving at their best.
