PRIME MINISTER AND THE FARMERS
Sir,—The Prime Minister’s New Year jnessage and advice to the people of this country must have appealed especially to the mortgaged farmers. They are now facing a slumped wool market, decreased prices for live stock, and a super land tax. They will have to restrict their improvements, purchases and labour to a minimum this year to make ends meet. The Government will certainly need the money derived from the super tax to keep the unemployed busy next winter. — I am, etc., MORTGAGED FARMER. Mesiwrtoa,. January 18.
