BOWLS

HUTT VALLEY TOURNEY . FINALS TO-MORROW In brilliant weather the Hutt Valley bowling tournament was advanced to the end of the sixth round yesterday. The greens were all good, but perhaps the Central Club’s green was in the best oraer for tournament, most certainly it was the keenest, and as a result the games took longer to play there than they did at either the Hutt or Petone. As the result of the play yesterday, the section winners were found outright, so that there are only three rinks left in the contest —those skipped by Duncan (Wellington), Fisher (Central), and Levestam (Newtown). These three will fight out the finish at the Petone Club’s green to-morrow, commencing at 1 p.m. sharp. The results of yesterday’s rounds were as follow:— FOURTH ROUND. Section A (Central). The Canadian bowls team, on returning from Whangarei yesterday afternoon, played a tournament with North Auckland representatives. The Canadians won 2 matches, aggregating 100 points, and North Auckland won 4 games (144 points). The visitors, however, found the greens astonishingly fast and declared they were the most perfect they had ever played on. The party left Auckland to-day and was enthusiastically farewelled.
