“THE YELLOW PERIL”

DESCRIBED AS A MYTH Auckland, January 1. The view that the people in Australia and New .Zealand, who hold the belief that China and Japan arc watching their countries eagerly for chances of mass emigration, are taking themselves far too seriously, is expressed by Professor H. Belshaw, Professor of Economics at Auckland University College, who returned by the Maunganui after attending the third biennial conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations at Kioto, Japan. “The yellow peril in this respect is hardly more than a myth,” Professor Belshaw said. “The Japanese may have their eyes on Manchuria, but there is not the slightest cause to worry about their emigration to this part of the world.”
