YOUNG SCHOOLMASTER DROWNED

' Opotiki. January 2. John Fitzgerald, aged 28, single, a schooljsjister of Inangahua, Westport, who was on holiday visiting his uncle, Mr. P. Fitzgerald, of Opotiki, was drowned in the Waioeka River. Deceased, with two children, went for a row on the river. The boat struck a snag and capsized. Both children swam ashore, but deceased failed to come up. The alarm was given' and the body recovered, but artificial respiration proved fruitless. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
