NEW UNION FREIGHTER

SYDNEY-HOBART TRADE

Captain A. Murray, master of the Kiwitea, is travelling to England in the Ballarat, to take coutmand of the Union Steam Ship Company's new freighter, Talune, which is being built for the Hobart-Sydney fruit trade, and is due at Sydney In March or April. Teh Talune will be a vessel of 2500 tons, gross, with a speed of about 12 knots. Nothing definite is knowrt in Sydney of the method of propulsion, says the “Herald,” but she will be either oil-fired or Dieseldriven. Captain G. B. Hoddinott, who is leaving to-day for England, will bring out another of the Union Company’s new cargo ships. THE ‘ RANGITATA. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that their new motor-liner Rangitaue, now putting out part of her London cargo at Auckland, will leave there ou January 9 for Wellington. She is due here on January 11, and will complete discharge at this port. RANGITANE LEAVES MADEIRA. Cabled news has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Rangitane, the third of their new motor-liners, arrived at and left Madeira last Tuesday; en route from London and Southampton to Wellington and Auckland. The vessel is due at Wellington on January 25. KENT’S LOADING PORTS. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Kent, which has commenced loading at Bluff, will leave thera on Saturday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on January 20, and will sail finally from this port on January 25 for London, Avonmouth, ■ Liverpool and Glasgow, via Panama Canal and Curacao. MAHANA’S LOADING PORTS. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise tiiat the Mahana, which left Wellington last evening for Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge of her Liverpool cargo, is to commence loading for London at the Otago port. She wi.l subsequently load also at Bluff, New Plymouth, Wanganui and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on January 24 and will leave here on January 27 for Napier to fill up. The Mahana is to sail finally from Napier on January al tor London, via Panama Canal.

THE MAIMOA. The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company s steamer Maimoa arrived at Napier at i.w a.m. yesterday from Auckland, to complete loading. She is now timed to sail Anally from Napier on Saturday for London, via Panama Canal.

THK MAHIA’S ITINERARY. An alteration in the loading itinerary of the Mahla is reported by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company. The vessel left Timaru last night for Port Chalmers and Wellington. She is due here next Tuesday, and, instead of sailing finally from this port, she wil leave Wellington on January 10 for Ly.ttelton, to fill up. The Mahla is to sail from Lyttelton on January la for London, via Panama Canal. PORT DARWIN TO LOAD. The C. and D. liner Port Darwin left Dunedin last night for New Plymouth to commence loading for London. She will also load at Wanganui and Wellington, arriving here on January 10. Wallis advises that the A. and A. Line chartered steamer Armadale, at present discharging New York cargo at Auckland, will leave the latter port tonight for Wellington. She is due here on Friday morning. THE BENCRUACHAN. The Geo. H. Scales Company’s steamer Beucruachan is loading 1000 bales of transhipped wool at Wellington, and also l-’OO tons of bunker coal. She is now timed to leave here on Thursday for Timaru and Port Chalmers, to pick up the remainder of her cargo for Dunkirk, Hull, and Lond°Captain A. The Canadian National Steamships received a radio message yesterday from the Canadian Constructor, en route from Montreal, stating that the vessel will arrive at Wellington next Saturday afternoon. The sliip is to put out part cargo here, and will then proceed on to Australia with the remainder. Captain Webb retains command of the vessel. THE CANADIAN CONQUEROR. . The Canadian Conqueror left Lyttelton yesterday for Timaru and Dunedin. From the Otago port she is due at Wellington on Sunday to load for New York, Boston, and Montreal.
