AUSTRALIANS FOR HUTT The Wellington Swimming Centre decided last night that Noel Ryan, 440yds., SSOyds., and one mile Australian champion, and Owen Griffiths, the sprint and middledistance championship holder of New South Wales, should compete at an evening carnival which will he held at the Riddiford Baths on January 9. The programme for the national championships, which will be held next year at Greymouth, was received. The meeting will commence on Friday, January 24, ending on the following Wednesday wjth the Annette Kellerman Cup contest at Lake Brunner, on the Sunday and the N.Z. Surfing Championship on the Tuesday. Nominations, which must first go to the secretary of the Wellington Centre (Mr. W. Blakeley) must be at Greymouth before midnight on January 14. - , Messrs. P. Coira and McCartney were appointed as the Centre’s representatives to the New Zealand conference which will be held at the same time as the championships. «... The application of the Hutt Club for the 2“ovds. Centre Championship for their carnival in Riddiford Baths on January 10, was granted, that for the 50yrs. championship being refused. It was decided that entries for the carnival, which will be held in the Riddiford Baths on January 9. would close on Saturday next.
