Yeates. Mr. Burn stated that the activities of the league were carried on in nineteen different centres in New Zealand. Much propaganda had been done by correspondence nnd through the Press. It was the racial aspect of progress that mattered. The next great step in human progress was the c " t “ l . ) ’ i "’ ln )S 1 of a great Commonwealth of Nations. Ihe dreadful menace of a colour war would thus be obviated. India also had much to teach the world in the form of Oriental art and culture. The minutes of last year s conference were then read by Mr. .1. Griffiths, secretary of the league. It had been suggested that the newspaper "New India should be distributed to the various public libraries. and that copies of the book India as a Nation” should also bo presented to libraries. Much of this work had been done during 1929. The secretary in his report -stated that lectures on the league's objects had been given throughout, the year. Dunedin had been a very active centre. A visiting Indian scholar 'had lectured to good audiences. A prominent southern newspaper had asked for an article on the New Zealand and India League. Much literature on India had been distributed. In Otago, Workers’ Educational Association lectures on the Indian question had been given. Mr. D. W. M. Burn. M.A., ot Dunedin, was re-elected president. Mr. B. Yeates, of Wellington, was elected vice-president, and Mr. J. Griffiths honorary secretary and treasurer.
