THE KING’S SPEECHES
“King George V in His Own Words,” published recently, is a compilation by F. A. McKenzie of speeches made by the King on many occasions. ’he first speech was made as a young sailor prince in the Guildball; the, last utterance recorded is that which the King made to his people on the occasion of his recent recovery from illness. In between there are speeches on many subjects, and Mr. Mackenzie has arranged them very well. The last communication of all, for example, comes at the end of. the first chapter, because that chapter deals with "The King and his People.” In this same way all the book’s contents are grouped in accordance with subject, not date. There are “The King as Social Reformer,” “The Overseas Dominions,” “Religion,” “Empire Trade,” and so on —twentythree heads in all.
