The great improvements that are being carried out in Chaytor Street (that section of the main Karorl Road between the tunnel and the Cemetery gates) and Glenmore Road are in accordance with 1928 Access Commission’s recommendation, which reads as follows:—“The widening of Tinakori Road from the junction of the new road to Glenmore Road, the continuation of the widening of Glenmore Road and Chavtor Street to a minimum width of 49’ 6” to Karori Cemetery, so as to provide a double tramway track with sufficient clearance for vehicular traffic on each side of the tramway with at least one footpath, and the duplication of the existing tramway track from the city.”
