In Mr. Bailey’s farewell speech he spoke of the happy time spent in AVanganui, and of the joy the work had given both himself and Mrs. Bailey. He spoke highly of the talent he had found in the city. “Competitions,” said Mr. Bailey, “would be the only means of developing the artistic side in the children, now that such wonderful entertainment is provided by wireless, etc., otherwise art would die out in the community.” Mr. W. Hutchens voiced regret that all felt in the departure of Mr. and Mrs. Bailey, saying that the standard of dramatic art had improved wonderfully since the coming of Mr. and Mrs. Bailey to AVanganui, and the city would be the poorer for their going. Councillor Scott also spoke in appreciation of Mr. and Mrs. Bailey.
