EXCURSION TO PICTON
ENJOYABLE SEA TRIP. The Union Company’s steamer Maori left Wellington at 8.5 a.m. yesterday with 1230 excursionists for Picton. A fresh north-westerly wind in Cook Strait hnd a southerly swell did not spoil the pleasure of the holiday-makers, and the vessel arrived at Picton shortly before 11 a.m. Fine weather prevailed at Pieton, and picnicking was indulged in until the time for the return trip approached. The Maori left Picton at 2.35 p.m., and had fine weather but a strong north-westerly breeze on the run across to Wellington, where she arrived at 5.45 p.m. The Boys’ Institute Band contributed items during the excursion.
