SNOWED IN

GEOLOGICAL PARTY IN QUEEN MAUD RANGE EVERYTHING WET AND SOGGY (By Russell Owen.—Special to “New York Times.”) Bay of Whales, December 17. Dr. Laurence Gould, in a radio message from Queen Maud Range, says: “It is still snowing, and there is no piospect of an immediate change in the weather. The sledges are nearly buried in the snow, the dogs are living in holes, and our tents are half covered. Everything is wet and soggy, for it is warm and there is much melting. I hope your roofs do not leak like our tents.

“It is not 40 degrees below zero, but this kind of weather makes sledging hard work. We left ur few books at Camp Strom. We have one deck of cards, and play hearts and bridge for chocolate as a pastime. There are mountains on three sides of us, but we can see nothing. Everyone is in high spirits in spite of the weather.”
