OPENING MATCH VICTORIA v. QUEENSLAND (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Rcc. December 18, 11.30 p.m.). Melbourne, December 18. The opening match in the Sheffield Shield competition, between Victoria and Queensland, was commenced to-day. The wicket was soft. Queensland, in the first innings, made 114 (O'Connor 27, Levy 50). a’Beckett u.cured four wickets for 25; Ironmonger, four for 20; Blackie, two for 40. Victoria has four wickets down for 52 (Ponsford 28, Woodfull, retired hurt, 2, Hendry 6, Ryder 7).
