SUFFERERS BY FROST
GOVERNMENT RELIEF FOR SMALL FARMRRS Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, December 18. It is announced by the Department of Agriculture, Christchurch, that the Government is now prepared to grant relief in the form ot small loans to those who suffered severely from the recent frosts in Canterbury on November 14. When a deputation representative of the fruitgrowers of North Canterbury waited on the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. G. W. Forbes) to ask financial assistance from the Government for those growers whose crops were damaged by the frosts, n promise was made that advances would be made to the growers who were in difficulties. A limited sum only is available, and loans will be made only to those who cannot carry on without assistance and whose financial position is such that they are unable to make their own arrangements for the additional finance required.
