SHORTAGE OF HOUSE SURGEONS

BONUS TO BE PAID The Wellington Hospital Board yesterday agreed to the recommendation of the General Committee that, owing to the shortage of house surgeons, a casualty officer (resident) be appointed, at a salary of £3OO per annum, and that from January 1, 1930, the salaries of the house surgeons be increased to £l5O for the first year and £250 for the second year. The General Committea further recommended that, owing to the extra work which has been carried out by the present house surgeons on account of the shortage of staff, a bonus be paid at the end of the year in ratio of the salaries which would have been paid had the. staff been at full strength.
