MAGISTRATE’S COURT

by-law and civil cases Offenders against the by-laws were dealt with by Sir. T. B. McNeil, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. George Miller was convicted on two charges of failing to obtain a heavy traffic license and also on a charge of failing to have the weight painted upon a vehicle. The Magistrate held the question of penalty over until Thursday next to see if the defendant would pay his fees by then. A conviction against Frederick W. Moorshead which was entered on November 21 for parking in a prohibited area was set aside.. On a charge of failing to obtain a heavy traffic license Cyril West was fined £l. On five other similar charges he was convicted and ordered to pay 10/- costs in each case. Roderic J. McCleod, John C. Boyes, John P. Rea, and Mrs. E. G. Martin were each fined 10/- and costs for parking their cars in prohibited areas. On a like charge David V. Terris was fined £l. William F. Curie, William T. Davis, William Guppy, and John E. McEwen were each fined £1 for leaving their cars unattended. Bernard True, who committed a similar offence, was fined 5/-. Ronald Bolton was fined £1 for overloading his motor-cycle; Robert Beattie £l, for driving the -wrong way in a oneway traffic street; James Bear 10/- for a like offence and 10/- costs for not having a driver’s license. William C. Crockford was also fined £1 for driving the wrong way in a one-way traffic street. Percy Hazelwood was fined £1 for having no lights; George Huxford 2/6 on each of tw’o charges of allowing stock to wander; Percy G. Low £1 for failing to clean a water course; Frank Meyes 55., for parking less than 15ft, from a building line; George Morgan £1 for failing to obtain a heavy traffic license; George Morgan, sent., for failing to have the weight painted on his motor-lorry was fined 10/-. Benjamin Manttan was convicted and ordered to pay 10/- costs on each of two charges of allowing stock to wander. Bertie Wilson and Albert Mellop were fined £1 and 2/6 respectively on a similar charge.

lan E. McGavin, for driving against an automatic stop signal, was fined 10/-. Arthur Tucker and Clarence A. Willis were each fined £1 for driving the wrong way in a one-way street.
