MEETING ON SATURDAY. An evening of thrilling finishes and excellent races is anticipated for the Saturday night sports meeting, on the Basin Reserve. The gathering will mark the official opening of. thp Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre’s season, nnd most of the prominent runners and cyclists of the city will be competing. Outstanding among the cycle events will be the two miles scratch race (the first of the allround championship series), and the "penny-farthing”' machine race between Ericson, Wellington provincial road champion, and Morris, Hutt Valley champion.' Much interest will centre round the performance of M. Gane, present holder of the Wellington all-round cycle championship. He will be seen in action with ,0. Flett, L. J. Pearce. W.
