Buckley, officer commanding Wigram Aerodrome, landed at Ashburton after being forced to return from the south. They left Wigram at 6.30 this morning in a Moth, with tlie intention of flying to Dunedin, but ran into heavy rain at Hampden, where they had difficulty in picking up tlie cliffs. They landed in a. paddock for half an hour — they were wet through—and then set off on the return. They landed near Oamaru and came on to Ashburton, landing with an almost empty tank. Captain Buckley said that he had not sufficient petrol to taxi across the aerodrome. They left, for Wigram early in the afternoon.
