DOUBLE DROWNING

YOUTHS LOSE LIVES IN BATHS DEATH OF WOULD-BE RESCUER By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, November 27. The beginning of the swimming season at Woodville was marked by a double drowning at the municipal baths this evening. The victims were:— HUBERT NOHL DEW, aged 21, recently appointed custodian of the baths, and LESLIE GEORGE KIWI GOLDSAUK, aged 16, a grocer’s assistant. These two, with a younger brother of Goklsack, went to the baths at 6 o’clock. Leslie Goklsack entered the water and a few minutes later complained that he was chocking and called for help. Dew dived in, but came to grips with the drowning boy and both sank. Stanley Goklsack sought the assistance of Jack Horne, who brought Dew to the surface and Dr. -Mules applied artificial respiration for two hours in vain. Subsequently Goldsaek’s body was recovered, but an attempt ,at resuscitation in this case failed also.
