DISASTER TO FISHING FLEET

COST OF REPLACING NETS RELIEF FUND RAISED IN SCOTLAND (British Official Wireless.) (Hee. November 27, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, November 26. Mr. W. Adamson, Secretary for Scotland, stated in the House of Commons that 571 boats of the East Anglian herring fleet were involved in the disaster wrought by the storm in the North Sea on November 11. Of these 542 were registered in Scotland. The total number of nets destroyed was approximately 27,800 and the value was about £60,000. The cost of replacing the nets would be £143,000. A fund being raised in Scotland for the relief of the fishermen amounted to nearly £13,000, and was growing daily.
