SIR JOHN COCKBURN (Rec. November 27, 5.5 p.m.) London, November 26. The death is announced of Sir John Cockburn, formerly Premier and afterwards Agent-General for South Australia, at the age of 79. MAHARAJA OF NEPAL (Rec. November 27, 5.5 p.m.) Delhi, November 26. The Maharaja of Nepal died nt Khatmandu from double pneumonia. [The late Maharaja was born '»i 1863. was married twice, and leaves eight sons and two daughters. During the European War he presented 31 machine guns, the first gift of munitions, to the King, and placed the whole of the military resources of his State at the disposal of the King. He also rendered substantial aid to Bri tain during the Waziristan campaign and the third Kabul War, 1917-18. He abolished slavery in Nepal, and emancipated about 60,000 slaves, at the cost of over 35 lakhs of rupees in 1924-26.]
