SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

Tuesday’s concert at the Sailors’ Friend Society was a pronounced success in every way. The downpour did not damp the spirits of the guests, who were loud in their praise of the items, and were only satisfied by recalls. The liostess was Miss J. Samson. The performers were Mrs. Watson, the Misses Stanton, Mason, Samson, Peoples, Newdick, and Messrs. Watson, Mellor, Brand, A Moore, and Taylor. The Misses Mason and I. Samson were at the piano. Mr. .1 Moore, missioner, took for his subject, “How They Advertise.” Pledges followed. The members of the Victoria League extended hospitality to tlie guests of the evening. Good work was done in the competitions. The prizes came from Ngaio and Khandallah, and went to the Port Hunter, and Taranaki.
