CRUELTY TO HORSE

.SHOWMAN FINED. Dominion Special Service Christchurch, November 27. Roy Goldie, a showman and rider of one of the buck-jumpers at the recent A. and P. Show, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day charged with cruelty to n horse by the excessive use of spurs. Although the horses at the side-show were advertised. as “outlaws of the world,” the inspector for the S.P.C.A. and counsel for the prosecution both stated that the horses were very quiet and could be ridden without a saddle by almost anybody. Blood had been drawn from the horse by repeated use of the spurs, and the animal obviously suffered great pain. Defendant was fined £3 and costs.
