Mr. and Miss E. Vigor. Brown are Napier visitors to Wanganui. Mrs. E. Holmwood is the guest of Mrs. Fritz Kummer, of Masterton. Mrs. Hatrick, Senr., has returned to Wanganui from a visit to Wellington.

Miss Betty Mason, of Sandon Road,' Feilding, has joined the staff of the Karitane Hospital st Auckland. Miss Nora McGuire, of New Plymouth, is visiting Masterton, and is staying with her aunt, Mrs. Syron. Mrs. Cooper, of Queensland. Australia, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. F. C. Lewis, at Masterton. The Lady Jellicoe Club. Wanganui, intend holding a party on Friday to celebrate the birthday of the club. Miss Livcsey, of Mount Albert, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. Frank Mason, of Sandon Road, Feilding. Miss A. Thompson and Miss N. Houselander, Christchurch, are guests of Mrs. Gordon Thompson, Kaiangra, Wanganui. Mrs. Morrison, Melbourne, and her two sons are visiting her father, Mr. F. S. Tarrant, Kakaramea. Miss O. Harris, Taihape, is visiting her mother, Mrs. J. E. McNie, Rapanui, Wanganui.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bailey, Wanganui, will be entertained at the Hawera Club’s “guest” night on December 6.

Mr. and Mrs. F, P. Taiboys have returned to Wanganui from a motor tour of the North Island.

Mrs. Akel, of Auckland, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Carter, of Limerick Street, Palmerston North. Mrs. Dunean, of Taihape, who has been visiting friends in Dannevirke, is now spending a few days in Palmerston North.

Miss Marion Fraser, of Gisborne, is staying with her cousin, Miss Elsa McDonald, of “Summerhill,” Martinborough. The Mayoress of Palmerston North (Mrs. A. J. Graham) returned from Waikanae on Monday much improved in health, and it is hoped that she will shortly be able to fulfil engagements during the daytime. At the annual meeting of the Foxton branch of the W.C.T.U. held last week, Mrs. C. King was elected president, and Mesdames Edmondson, Nicholas, Chrystall, J. Ross, and Miss Duncan vicepresidents, Mrs. Dorset treasurer, and Mrs. J. M. Thomson secretary.

On the occasion of her mother’s eightysixth birthday a large gathering <4 relatives and friends were entertained lip Mrs. E. Edmonds at her residence, Church Street, Palmerston North, recently. The table was beautifully decorated with roses nnd stocks, and in the centre a large iced birthday cake was placed. The cake was decorated with 86 candles, the ligthing of which caused much amusement. Mrs. Dowsett, who was born in Wellington, where she resided for fifty years, was the guest of honour. In the early bush days, prior to the construction of the railway between Mauriceville and Woodville, Mr. and Mrs. Dowsett. together with their family, removed to Newman, Eketahunn, where she resided until recently, when she went to Palmerston North to live.
