EXPLOSIONS ON OIL TANKER

TOWN OF GRANGEMOUTH SHAKEN TWO OF CREW SEVERELY BURNED (Rec. November 26, 7.30 p.m.) London, November 26. Three terrific explosions blew out sixty feet of the starboard side of the oil-tanker British Chemist at Grangemouth harbour, shaking the whole town. Fierce flames lit up the district for miles. Six of the crew were trapped on board but escaped by jumping into the sea. Two were severely burned, one being taken to hospital. The British Chemist arrived from Abadan with a cargo of crude oil this morning and had discharged her cargo. The explosion is believed to have been due to vapour ignited by a fire on a neighbouring vessel.
