MATCH DRAWN

ENGLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES FAST SCORING BY JACKSON AND ALLSOPP BARRATT AND BOWLEY ABSENT (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Rec. November 26, 11.15 p.m.), Sydney, November 26. The last day of the New South Wales v. Marylebone match was merely a batting practice for both sides. Woolley captured two wickets, but the English bowling was depleted by the absence of Barratt and Bowley, and held no terrors for Jackson and Allsopp, both of whom scored at a fast rate. Jackson batted unconquered until 3.30, when the innings was declared closed with three wickets down for 305. Allsopp also accomplished a fine double. At one stage England had four substitutes in the field, with Dawson and Duleepsinhji bowling. Fifty runs were scored in nineteen minutes.

The match ended in an inevitable draw, as England had to make 465 runs in two hours and a half. Alisopp’s stumping of Duleepsinhji, who batted delightfully, was a good piece of work. Dawson and Legge carried the score along at a steady rate and when stumps were drawn the score was 204 for two wickets. The takings for the match were £3537, of which the Englishmen get £2OOO.
