The Chief traffic inspector in Christchurch was in the Traffic Court, and lie , called*’ a defendant, whose plea was guilty. AA'itbout looking to see the defendant, the chief inspector proceeded to state his case. “The defendant is only sixteen years of age ”he started, when he was interrupted by a subdued titter. He looked up to find that a gentleman of some sixty-five summers, with grey hair and all the other appurtenances of age. was standing where he expected a beardless boy! The old gentleman had made the mistake —it was not his name that I had been called. I
