PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
MEETING OF WELLINGTON SOCIETY. The . Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals met last week, when Mr. G. Mitchell presided over a good attendance of members. Considerable discussion took place in connection with proposals that had been made to assist the Palmerston North branch of the society, and it was decided that the Wellington Society make a special effort to revive interest in the work of the society there as it was considered there was need for such a society. It was reported that the Junior S.P.C.A. League had secured a good result by new enrolments after the concert which was held in the Town Hall, and from indications it is apparent that the work will take on among the children. Any children who have received enrolment forms and have not sent them in are requested to forward them to the office of the society in the A.P.A. Buildings. The inspector reported that he had investigated a number of eases of alleged cruelty which had been brought under his notice and had paid visits of inspection in the city and suburbs and also in the Manawatu district. Members of the committee expressed gratification at the excellent concert which had been held in the Town Hall, and a special vote of thanks was accorded all of those who had assisted to make it a success.
