LINERS Further proof of the increasing; attention paid to the comfort of Australian travellers has already been manifested in Bay and Orient liners. There has now been a notable transformation of the P. aud O. liner Mooltan, which left London recently for Australia, after having undergone an overhaul for four months. All the lirstelass three and four-berth cabins have been converted either into roomy single or double berth cabins, the single cabins being connected so that they may be booked by family parlies. All first-class cabins are fitted with comfortable cot beds. The comfort of second-class passengers has been increased by the erection of a glassedin veranda cafe. All the alleyways have rubber flooring. A new feature of tlie en-giiie-iooni is the turbine auxiliary drives attached to the main shafts. The turbines are operated by exhaust steam. This will efi'eet great economy in fuel, and will permit an extra knot of speed in cases of emergency or delay. The Mnloja is being altered similarly. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. The new slips are each of 17,900 gross register tonnage, have a length overall of 584 ft., a breadth (moulded) of 72ft., and arc (he largest ships ever built in Japanese yards.
