FETE FOR PLUNKET FUNDS.

The weather on Saturday afternoon proved delightful in spite of doubts in the earlier part of the day, and in consequence those who attended the garden party held in the grounds of the . Prime Ministerial residence, Tinakori Road, had a very pleasant time. The party was organised by Mrs. Bernard Wood as a contribution to the funds of the Plunket Society, and she had spared no pains to make it enjoyable. Members of the Plunket Committee assisted in various ways at the stalls, afternoon tea, the treasure hunt, and at the gate. A large marquee had been erected on the lawn for tea, which was served by a number of girls, who handed it round to the visitors as they were seated round the lawn, in the summer house, etc. Several stalls were arranged, one for cakes and sweets, and a work stall, while ice creams sold well among the children. At one end of the lawn Mrs. Macarthy Reid had erected “Aunt Sally,” and this also was very popular, but most popular of all was a treasure hunt. This was conducted in the orchard, where many small labels were concealed, and the lucky finders received a gift. The children had a great time here, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. An orchestra was stationed on the path above the lawn and played during the afternoon. Mrs. Wood, who was wearing a dress of lido blue crepo de chine and hat to match, was busy selling balloons and assisting everywhere. Mr. Vincent Ward and the Hon. W. A. Veitch assisted in many ways, and members of the society present either as assistants or visitors included Lady Hosking, Mrs. H. Hall, Mrs. M. Myers, Mrs. W. A. Veitch, Miss Ward, Mrs. Tytho Brown, Mrs. Clayton, Miss Campbell, Miss Barnett, Mrs. G. Nathan. Mrs. C. White, Mrs. Macarthy Reid, Mr. and Mrs. McEldoweey,
