Mr. Adam Adamson, the “ambergris king.” was visited last week at his Doughboy Bay camp by a party which tramped through over the hills from Mason’s Beach, states the Stewart Island ebrrespondent of the “Southland Daily Nows.” Mr. Adamson was in good health. Though the absence of westerly winds Had prevented him getting the usual supply of ambergris from the beach itself, nevertheless by his experiments witli the creeks in the sandhills he had dislodged some nice pieces of old matured sorts. These pieces, which apparently have lain buried in the sand, are the most valuable of the various grades. The party were shown five tine pieces in particular weighing about 6oz. each. These alone are worth about £4 an ounce in London, so the parcel should net about £l2O, apart from his other various grades and smaller pieces.
