Met'on achy is credited with saying in an interview at Manchester that if he were a free agent lie would not hesitate a moment at entering the championship, “but," he said. "I am. under a contract, and can only fulfil engagements made for me.” “Hazard” comments: "If McConachy and presumably Lindrum and Smith cannot enter the championship because of their contracts, they should be released.” SMITH’S ATTITUDE (Rec. Smith, in a letter to "Sporting Life.” states that he is willing to meet the Billiards Council when playing Lindrum in London on November 25, provided the I’ress is admitted. lie says he has nothing to hide. “Sporting Life” comments: “It is no use nlayers and jhe council meeting unless the players can say they are free to enter the championship under the conditions laid down.” SCORES IN BIG MATCHES London, November 15. The following are the scores in the two billiards matches: — Lindrum, 10,917, including breaks of 1.189, 45-1. 329. and 332; Smith, 9180, including 540, 386. 197, and 166. In the billiards match at Leeds, Lintlrum, at the close of the day's play, was 12.533. Lindrum scored 710, averaging 233., Smith’s score was 11,183. He scored 1110, averaging 278.' . In the match nf Manchester McConac)iy. in play, was 12,019, and Davis 10,384. At the close McConachy registered breaks of 196 and 200, unfinished, scoring 1440, an average of 288. Davis scored 499, an average of S 3.
