SOUTH AFRICAN NATIVES
TROUBLE OVER POLL-TAX (Rec. November 15, 5.45 p.m.) (Rec. November 15, 8.25 p.m.) A police raid on native compounds at Durban resulted in the arrest of several natives for non-payment of poll-tax. The trouble was said to be fomented by Communist agents from Russia, but a native professor blames over-taxation and over-charges for compound beer. It is anticipated that demonstrations,- against native Bills will begin in January.
