WRESTLING
VANCE ISSUES A CHALLENGE TO ALLEY. Concerning his recent wrestling match with Tom Alley, Farmer Vance writes; — “I consider that the referee should have given the decision in my favour. It was no doubt obvious to everyone but myself that the stroke that disabled me was delivered from a greater distance than the bin. allowed in the event of the Rabbit punch being utilised. Had I received the blow under the conditions agreed upon, I am of the opinion that my condition would have enabled me to withstand the shock, and the contest must have eventually ended in my favour. Under the circumstances I desire to challenge Alley to a return contest, but the only conditions I lay (down are that no questionable tactics, such as the Rabbit punch,\ strangle-hold, ete., are to be employed. Under fair wrestling conditions I am a match for Alley at any time.”
