FROM FAR AND NEAR Zoubkoff Arrested.—Zoubkoff was axrested for entering Germany without a permit, states a Press Association message from Berlin, Arabs Attack SafedL—Arabs attacked Safed, wounding a British soldier. Two hours’ rifle firing ensued. Reinforcements and armoured cars were rushed to the scene. The rebels’ casualties are unknown. —Press Assn. Bookmaker Punished. —In the Magistrate’s Court at Hamilton yesterday, Thomas Barrett, aged 43, a confectioner, was fined £3O for bookmaking; the alternatiye was fixed at two months' imprisonment. The Magistrate (states a Press Association message) refused to allow time to pay. Sexton Turns Bootlegger.—A Press Association message from Boston states that grave-digging being rather dull, Richard Jermyn, caretaker of the Peabody Cemetery, turned bootlegger. He started a cemetery night club, and did a lively business amongst his dead customers. A police raid caught nine girls and twentysix men following revels where beer was dispensed from a coffin, a table being used as a bar. Twenty gallons of whisky were found in a tub peacefully resting on the upper slab in a mausoleum.
