BYRD’S BIRTHDAY
O. AIAYOR OF WELLINGTON SENDS GREETINGS. Few in Wellington were aware that Commander R. Byrd celebrated a birthday on October 25. but it was remembered by the Alayor (Air. G. A. Troup), who sent the following radio message:— “AVellington sends greetings to party. ‘ Many happy returns of October 25.— Troup, Alayor.” Yesterday afternoon, from out of the frozen wastes of the Antarctic, came the reply:— » “Appreciate Wellington’s birthday greetings. To you, your city officials, and people of Wellington, all good wishes from the inhabitants of Little America. —Richard Byrd.”
