At a meeting of tha Management Committee of tiie New Zealand Cricket Council a letter was received from the Manawatu Cricket Association asking that Hawke Cup matches be arranged for other than holiday, dates, as it was impossible to keep a r epresentative team together over the holidays. It was decided to inform the Manawatu Association that it would be impossible to avoid holiday dates for Hawke Cup matches, and to point out that the major associations had to play on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. An application from the Rotorua Association for affiliation as a minor association will be referred to the conference of delegates. PLAYING PROFESSIONALS. By Telegraph. — Press Association. Dunedin. November 1. The Otago Cricket Association carried a motion favouring the playing of one professional in tlie respective teams in the Plunket Shield competition.
