THE RACING WORLD

CARTERTON MEETING TO DAY

A REVIEW OF THE FORM

(By

"The Watcher.”)

The annual meeting ot the Carterton Racing Club will be held on the Clarerille course to-day. Large fields are encaged in all events and there should be some Interesting contests. Wellington patrons can attend the meeting by the train leaving Lambton at 7.50 a.m., returning by a fast special leaving Clareville after the-last race. The first race is timed to start at 11.45 a.m., and the card for the day is as follows:-—

TRIAL PLATE, of 130 sovs. Six furlongs. All 8.8. Pat’s Boy Acreline Only Fair Ben Hur Painting Lady Gen Grecian Rational II Streamer Rule Britannia Projection Dancing Star Plane Duellona General Gas Night Raider Agrestic Rioghail

There is not a great deal of form amongst the Trial Platers. That of Streamer and Pat’s Boy Is the best. Ben Hur should be an improver and in the class Duellona might show up. The two first-named,' however, appeal most.

Trentham running points to the two topweights in the High-Weight. Moepai won at Waipawa and incurred a 51b. penalty, but has to be considered. Rasoull showed up at Trentham, but may be a bit new yet Make Up may be fancied and be the one to trouble Austerity and Tourist.

Rabbi, with H. Gray in the saddle, will no doubt be a solid fancy in the Cup, and he should run well, as should Atholspear. They are a cut above their opponents. Rouex and Break o’ Day have shown form lately and may be possibilities, but Rabbi an<J Atholspear read well.

Dainty Ways. 7 12 ' . St. Melba’s Masterton form entitles him to consideration against the moderate opposition. Shot Silk and Ben Hur have shown up best of the others lately, though if Dermod struck form he would be hard.

Historic has a big weight, but he carries it well and cannot -be discarded. Atholspear, if started, should be prominent, and both Dobbin and Quantum are likely to race well. Atholspear and Dobbin may go too fast for the top-weight.

Wellington torm again reads well In the Taratabi Handicap, and points attention to Shortly, Austerity, Royal Opera, Tourist and Imateagirl. jlhe field will probably be reduced as several claim prior engagements,' but If started Austerity and Imateagirl should go well.

Several horses <n the open seven also claim prior engagements. Atholspear and Ramoses look the best of the top-weights, and ■ Roi de Vai is a fresh horse in good form. Moutoa Treasury did not show her true form at Masterton, where Billion raced well. Roi de Vai and Atholspear (if started) appeal, and in the absence ot the latter Moutoa Treasury.

Although good post positions will be a big advantage In the concluding event, the form of Banket and Hunting Boy is outstanding. Banket will be well suited by the course and her weight may not be troublesome. High Society, Ben Hur and Hunting Call may Improve sulheiently to. be dangerous, but it Is hard to get away from the pair at the top of the handicap. RICCARTON NOTES PENINSULA MEETING TO-DAY Dominion Special Service. ‘ ' Christchurch, Novepiber 1. Much interest is being centred in the Banks Peuinsula Racing Club's meetiug to-day. The weather promises to be fine and the track Will be hard and fast. The Okain’s Trial Stakes is for horses that have not won a race at time of nomination, and this condition' permits the Rangiora winner, Pixie Gold to keep his place in the field. He will have stronger opposition on this occasion, but should again be prominent. The finish may be confined to Straightcourse, Pixie Gold and Audience. . , ~ In a well-filled field for the Duvauchelte Trot Royal Silk, Kate Logan, and Roldena appear to have the best possibilities. Count Cavour, Amor and Malmsey are unlikely starters In the Akaroa Handicap, while Prickles may be also an absentee on account of the prevailing track conditions. Hoylake should be better for his Wellington trip, but will have to show his best to stave off Meprisant, who showed his ability in the Dunedin Guineas and should not be troubled by the distance. The only other likely candidate is Quarterdeck, who galloped well on Thursday and is a possibility under her light Impost. Meprisant, noylake, and Quarterdeck may be in most demand. _ The field for the Baisweil Hack Handicap represents fair class, and an interesting contest is promised. Stately will not be produced, nnd tn her absence Te Awhinn, Solgele and Bulolo make most apP6 A 4 trio likely to command attention in the Le Bons Handicap comprises Arch Arrow, Haze, and Some Lad. The Viscount will have an opportunity to open his winning account In the Kaltuna Highwelght Handicap, the field for which is far from strong. Page Boy has been penalised 71b. for ills Rangiora victory, and he and Fresh Breeze may give the’ first-named most trouble. Paper Bov and Twang will be bracketed on the machine in the Brackenfleld Flying Hack Handicap and are likely to solicit most support. Ranelagh is a speedy galloper nnd Solgele if reserved will carry good support. Paper Hoy, Ranelagh and Solgele read the best of a fairly well-bal-anced field Peter Daunt. Ruth Logan, and Teremoa "re likely to be in most request for the •little River Trot. F Tiller, with Consent, Cashier, Avro, and Freehold, put in an appearance on the Riccarton tracks to-day. The quartette, all looking well, were given light work on the plough. Orlflamb (L. Evnns) gave a splendid display in jumping six hurdles to-day. Ho

is not engaged on the first day of the big meeting, but will contest the hurdle events later- in the week. W D. Moroney was on the tracks today with Vertlgern, Count Palatine, and Tenterden, and all three were given easy tasks The last-named is a classicallooking two-year-old by Chief Ruler from Rosellate, half-sister to Solfanello and Roseday, by Kilbroney from Rosalia, by Stepnlak from that good performer Rosella. The youngster was taken out of the Welcome Stakes, but will contest the two-year-old handicap events at the meeting. Tenterden cost his owner, Mr. W. C. Elgar of Featherston, 1300 guineas at the Trentham yearling sales. Caterpillar has shown signs of returning to form in her recent gallops, but owing to her inability to see out seven furlongs she will not be racing at Motukarara to-day. , Count Cavour did not move too freely after working at Riccarton on Thursday, and again to-day, and it is mat likely he will be asked to race under the track conditions at Motukarara to-morrow. A doubt also exists as to his likelihood of seeing the post for the New Zealand CU Jome of the riding engagements for tomorrow's racing at Motukarara are as follow A. Eastwood (Meprisant, Netley, and Coupling); R. Coveny (Proud Knight, Thurso, Straightcourse, and Quarterdeck); A E. Ellis (Bonrose. Shining Star, and Gold Knight); D. Cotton (Hoylake, Desert Song, and Phastar); W. Pascoe (Tane, Count Cavour, and Hounslow); E. Shaw (The Viscount); J. W. Jennings (Aladdin and Arch Arrow); R. McCann (Chickwheat) ; A. Messervy (Some Lad); L. J. Ellis (Sea Raid and Audience); G. B. Barr (Topere). . . Dutch Money, who commands respect in the Stewards’ Handicap, will be ridden by the North Island lightweight, T. Webster. . , Amor was given half-pace work on the plough to-day, and showed no signs of lameness. He will not be at Motukarara to-day, but it is hoped that he may now be able to complete his New Zealand Cup preparation. • , Nightdew ricked herself during the week, and will not be seen out at Motukarara. Sea Raid, ridden by the stable apprentice, was made a lot of use of in the Ranglora Cup, and compounded at the straight entrance. She will be better served In the Akaroa Handicap to-day with L. J. Ellis in the saddle, and may be the one to upset the more favoured candidates. WAIKATO HANDICAPS The following handicaps have been declared by Mr. W. P. Russell for the spring meeting of the Waikato Racing Club: — WAIMAI HURDLES, of 150 sovb. Ono

NOTES AND COMMENTS (By “The Watcher.”) Final payments and acceptances for the New Zealand Cup and Stewards’ Handicaps, Derby, Oaks, Welcome Stakes, and first day’s acceptances at the C.J.C. Metropolitan meeting, are due on Monday by 8 p.m. Nominations for the annual meeting of the Levin Racing Club, to be held ,on Saturday, November 23, will close on Monday at 8 p.m. Nominations for the spring meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club to be held on Saturday and Monday, • November 30 and December 2, and first forfeits for the 24th Feilding Stakes, will close on Wednesday next at 8.30 p.m. This is the Jubilee meeting of the club and an excellent programme has been drawn up. The Feilding Jubilee Cup carries a stake of CO5 sovs., including a Gold Cup value 100 gns., presented by Mr. C. F- Johnston. In addition a gold replica of the cup will be presented to the trainer and the jockey of the winner; these trophies being also the gift of Mr. Johnston. The Te Awamutu trainer F. Loomb arrived in Wellington yesterday with Prodice and Value and went south by the Wahine. H. Gray’s future engagements include the riding on the A.R.C. 'Welcome Stakes winner, Royal Ruler. P V. Mason has continued the engagements of both Pride and Jaloux in the New Zealand Cup, but it Is significant that Jaloux has been accorded a nomination for the Spring I’late, run on the opening day of the C.J.C. meeting. Jaloux also has been accepted for in the New Zealand Derby Stakes, so that apparently his connections were satisfied with his efforts at the Randwick spring carnival. The three-year-old looks an Improved horse after his recent racing, and it may not be long before he enters the winning list. The six-year-old gelding Conjuror (by St. Alwyne—Poinard), a full-brother to Poltrel, now on his way to New Zealand, was bought when a foal at foot along with his dam at the dispersal sale of the Arrowfield Stud for COO guineas, by Mr. J. P. Arthur. He failed to win a race at two years old, and was then sold to Mr. T. M. Bourke. Conjuror was still a failure at three and four years old, but he managed to win the Oby Hurdle Race at Caulfield in the spring of 1928, and at an auction in Melbourne last April he was bought by Mr. C. Boyle, of Wellington, for G 25. gns. So far Conjuror has yet to win a race for his New Zealand owner, but he" was unlucky in his last start when he had a race won only to fall over a horse that came down in front of him at the last hurdle. The mishap left him very sore and it is mainly on this account that he is coming over to New Zealand for a spell.

The lightweight horseman H. Wiggins will do some smart travelling next week, when he will ride at Whangarel on the Thursday and at Riccarton on the Satur-

day.-- To do this he intends motoring through to Wellington on the Thursday night after the arrival ot the special train from Whangarel, so as to connect with the terry steamer for Lyttelton on Friday evening. Wiggins has been engaged to ride Cashier in the New Zealand Cup and Havering in the Stewards” Handicap.

The To Awamutu trainer, G. Paul, who has been in Sydney for some time, where he eventually disposed ot Aussie and Papatu, returned this week by the Ullmaroa.

According to a Sydney visitor, Paqulto was not ridden to the best advantage in the Caulfield Cup. He was rushed from a rear to a forward position in one sudden spurt at the six-furlong post, and was in fourth place at the home turn, but wide oft the course. He then finished sixth.

By tlie death of Mr. Matthew Johnson, the New Zealand sporting world has lost a keen supporter. He was for many years closely associated with galloping, and raced horses at various times. He was a member of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club executive, and while in office materially assisted in keeping the, flag flying during the distressing period the club has had to pass through. When trotting was rejuvenated in Hastings, the deceased gentleman took an active part in the organisation of the Hawke’s Bay Trotting Club, and was president until health reasons compelled him to resign, he being then elected a life member. He was also one of the leaders of the Hawk's Bay Boxing Association, when that body attained great heights a few years back. Mr Johnson, who was Deputy-Mayor of Hastings at the time of his death, was a citizen of high standing, and one of those all-round sportsmen the Dominion can ill-aflord to lose. Derby Trial.

As a rule, Derby candidates generally wind up their preparations for the three-year-old classic with a run in the Riecarton Handicap on Cup Day, and the form shown by the three-year-olds in that event generally provides a line on the more Important event. Among the three-vear-olds weighted for the Riccarton Handicap next week are Meprisant, Night Lad, and Admiral Drake, but Meprisant is an unlikely starter. He probably will have his last race before the Derby in the Akaroa Handicap at the Banks Peninsula meeting to-day. Alteration Wanted.

The position in regard to division races continues to be most unsatisfactory, aud the sooner the racing authorities convince the temporarily domiciled political heads of Molesworth Street, in Wellington, the sooner will come an improvement (says the Auckland “Star”). The latest was the Bardowie Handicap, at Cambridge, on Labour Day. Of the original field of 31 there were 24 starters, all the seven scratchings strangely enough being in the first division. Therefore, there were only eight -runners in that division. The second division was not decided until half an hour after the original starting time, and barkers were paid out on the winners of each division only. New safety limits for all the Dominion courses were listed in the official organ a few weeks back, and now it is up to the conference to convince the politicians that in such cases

the clubs concerned should be permitted to treat them as separate’ races, dividends paid on the first and second horses. One can imagine the of the sport crying that.this is the thin edge of the wedge,” but then, they are the sort that will always be up agin the government —of racing. At present, the stakes for a divided race, even on good programmes, are hardly worth running for, especially with a cut first dividend, and no chance of saving from the wreefe when a horse runs second. Division races are anathema to the racing authorities and the public alike. Off iCGOOO of Phar rap. In reply to an inquiry as to how he stood on the two Cups double, a promiQent Sydney bookmaker replied last week: ‘‘Nearly everything with a chance is running against roe, but the drawer, of. Phar Lap in the £20,000 sweep laid nie £6OOO at a satisfactory price, and that has eased matters to some extent so far as the chestnut is concerned.” V.R.C. Derby. Phar Lap is not to have a run to the left—the opposite to all he has ever run In his life in Sydney—prior to the Derby. This new experience could have been gained prior to the cla’ssic with a start In the Cox Plate last Saturday at Moonee Valley, but his trainer-owner probably considers that the smaller course might militate against his best form at the first attempt this way, so he scratched him. Thus hig first Melbourne start will be the Derby today. But the old maxim is that a good horse will show his best form running in either direction, and probably the connections of the favourite are content to abide by the belief.

The new grandstand, track, and other course improvements cannot fail to Impress patrons, who will find conditions generally much more comfortable than iu the past. The New Zealand Cup : Trial Handicap promises to provide a stirring struggle, and should alone be well worth going out to ; see. : The other races have filled very Well,,and, comprising as they do a number of Improving horses, should provide racing of a high standard. Special railway facilities have been arranged and those, coupled with an ample motor service, should enable. racegoers to travel to and from the Course in comfort and with dispatch. The new stand is to be officially openedby the Hon. T. M. Wllford, while the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle), will also be present. The first race is timed to start at 12.20. It is the NEW TRACK NOVICE HANDICAP (harness). of 175 sovs.; 3.59 class. One mile and five furlongs. Baron Derby . scr Nelson Gara .. scr Black Ripon ~ scr Solitude scr Brent Zolock .. scr Llewellyn 12 Grand Canyon . scr Richmond Lass 12 Hakarl scr Bingen Maid .. 24 Lady Author .. scr Warrenore .... 24 Mae Locanda . scr George the Matenga scr Fourth 48. In the New Track Handicap form seems to point to Grand Canyon, Mac Locanda, and Llewellyn. The first-named won at Greymouth last Monday, registering 3.42 1-5 for twelve furlongs and a half. This works out at approximately 3.33 for twelve furlongs, and 3.50} for thirteen furlongs, the distance of tlie race now under review. Mae Locanda won the Westward Ho Handicap at Methven from a large field tn 3.35. which is equivalent to 3.53 for thirteen furlongs. Llewellyn's best time so far was his 3.37 at Methven, when he ran into third place behind Cyone and Salient. Mac Locanda may carry most support. Outside of the three already named, Lady Author appears to be entitled to most respect. PETONE HANDICAP (harness), of 175 sovs. For unhoppled trotters only; 4.2 class. One mile and five furlongs. Ando Spray ... scr St. Petrox .... 24 Bon Boy scr Kva Beta 24 Lady Tory .... scr Miss Leda .... 36 Robert Todd .. scr Great Way ... 48 Peter Eyre .... 12 Nelson Parrish. 48 Rangltero 12 Tamaliino .... 48 Wah 12 Ukulele Lady . Ilf) Great Harvester 12 Speculator .. 96 In the Betone Handicap, Great Way, Nelson Parrish and Tamahine have each been penalised 18 yards as a result of their recent winning efforts. A 4.2 class at thirteen furlongs represents 3.431 at a mile and a half, and the candidates’ chances will be discussed on that basis. Audo Spray has a record of 3.45 2-5( which he registered at Hawke’s Bay last June when lie ran Bon Boy to less Ilian a length, conceding 36 yards. Itangitero and Wnh "also ran” in that. race. Bon Boy won at Methven recently nt two miles, but gave an uneven display. Peter Eyre raced consistently Inst year, running third nt Marlborough In 3.40 1-5. while at Hawke's Bay in .Tunc he ran Wnh to two lengths when conceding 36 yards. Rangitero won the Karamea Handicap at Auckland in August, going 3.43 3-5 from a 3.45 mark on a course described as “holding." Wnh won twice nt Hawke's Bay Inst year. He is a good sort, but has not yet settled down steadily. Great Harvester finished up Inst season by running third at Ashburton, registering 3.30 4-5. The track was fast, so that some allowance should be made on that account. St. Petrox was fourth nt Meliiven and is preferred to Eva Beta. Miss Ledn makes no appeal to me. As between Great Way. Nelson Parrish and Tamaliino, I incline to the latter. Ukulele Lady may bo equal to defeating Speculator, but will have her work cut out to head.off Great Harvester, Rnngltcro (who will be

bracketed with Tamahine if both start), and Peter Eyre.

BOLLARD MEMORIAL HANDICAP (harness), of 300 sovs.; 4.40 class. Two miles. , Aleron scr Great Logan .. o > Curfew Boy ... scr Zeila “U Rlchore scr Sir Author .... 48 Muriel de Oro., scr Sunfish Arlkitoa 12 Avenger 60 Cornelian 24 Steel All 60 Firpo 24 Vcndortic yjj Hector’s Own . 24 Trampfast 13L

The Bollard Handicap bears an open appearance and should provide a most interesting race. Aleron is new to the distance. He won at Addington over a mile and a half in September, clearing away from the field and registering the particularly -smart time of 3.22, which works out nt about 4.30 for two miles, as against the 4.40 mark he is now on. Curfew Boy ran third in a similar class at Addington in August, but has been outside tlie money each start since. Rich ore Avon the Manawatu Cup last March in 4.39 by five lengths from Zells, who was then conceding 24 yards. Muriel de Oro is also new to the distance, but she is a very promjsing youngster, '-who has a record of 2.15 3-5 for eight furlorjgs and 3.25 3-5 at a mile and a half. She should therefore be capable of running two miles inside 4.40. Ariki Toil has won a couple of short distance races this year, while.last season he won a sixteen furlongs and a half race at Wbstport. The class was however poor. Cornelian has done 4.35 2-5. This was at the Waikato meeting last March, the track being on the fast side. Firpo will need to be right at his best to have a show from a 4.39 mark. Hector’s Own ran third at New Brighton over a mile, registering 2.14 2-5, but nevertheless does not appeal. Great Dogan and Zeila appear to me rather close to Sir Author, notwithstanding that Zeila has the smartest time, having registered 4.32 2-5 at Addington in August as against Sir Author’s 4.37 3-5 at New Brighton last month. Sunfish and Vendome raced well at Auckland recently but neither appeal strongly in this race. Avenger is not too solid, while Steel All has no recent form to recommend him. Trampfast is a great “1 rotter and recently broke 4.29 at Oamaru* If the going is fine. I feel sure the winner will improve upon his handicap and so Trampfast has to be discarded. Aleron, Muriel do Oro. and Sir Author should give a good account of themselves.

BOROUGH HANDICAP (harness), of 200 sovs.; 3.51 class. One mile and five furlongs. El Direct scr Patsy Phagau . 12 Glenlake scr Anon 12 Hilltop scr Logan’s Pride . 12 Kelp scr Real Huon .... 12 Pleasant Wave scr Sonoma Child > 12 Rey Child .... scr Hostess 24 Salient scr Cushla ... Sonoma Star .. scr Halmorp 30 Sandy Pointer scr Royal Comrade. GO Haydock 12

There are some promising horses In the Borough Handicap, which presents rather a problem from a speculator’s point of view. Cushla d’Or and Royal Comrade have been rehandicapped since winning at Oamaru and Greymouth respectively; 3.51 at 13 furlongs is equal to 3.33 at 12, and I am ’’again approaching the matter from the latter angle. Last- season El Direct registered 3.32 2-5 at a mile and a half, but at . Addington in September he ran third to Aleron and Sonoma Laddie in 3.34 from a 3.36 mark. After making an allowance for a fast track, his performance suggests a marked improvement in form. Glenlake won at Ashburton in 3.31 3-5. Kelp recorded 3.30 2-5 at Addington in .Tune; Salient. 3.31 2-5 at New Brighton in September, and Sandy Pointer 3.229 1-5 at Ashburton in .Tune. Further back we come to Real Huon, 3.28 2-5 .and Sonoma Child 3.29 2-5. It will therefore be seen that the race promises to be a hard one to win. Possibly El Direct, Sandy Pointer, and Kelp will do best.

NEW ZEALAND CUP TRIAL HANDL CAP (harness), of 450 sovs.; 2.44 class. One mile and a-quarter. Imprint ser Kohara ... 12 Jean McElwyn scr Maiwhariti .... 12 Quality ser Gold Jacket .. 24 Linkman scr Great Bingen .. 36 Western King . scr Padlock 48 Jack Potts .... 12 Peter Bingen .. 48 Talero 12

Now comes the race of the day—the New Zealand Cup Trial Handicap—in which nearly all are due to contest the Cup at Addington in a few days. Imprint signalised his return to his old training quarters by winning the Grey mouth Handicap of 12i furlongs on Saturday by a kdiort head from Cardinal Logan, who was conceding 12 yards. His smartest performance last season was his third to Talaro and Jewel Pointer at Addington in August, when he registered 2.44. At Addington this August Western King and Jean McElwyn ran second and third respectively'in the Speedway Handicap, while r the following day. Walwharitl and Jean McElwyn were first and third respectively in the Farewell the former going 2.42 and thft latter 2.43. Quality has no sprinting performances to her credit, and would be better suited by a longer journey. Linkman registered 2.44 at Addington, and is a greatly improved horse. Jack Potts does not appeal, but Talaro, when well, is capable of running a merry mile and a quarter. .As between Kohara, Maiwhariti, and Gold Jacket, I am inclined to favour the former, especially if the track is heavy. Gold Jacket is rather close to Great Bingen, Padlock, and Peter Bingen. The latter did not start at Auckland, it \ being reported that he had been given a “ball” in mistake, the dose being intended for another horse. . Ho may not therefore be quite at his best. All things considered, Jean MeElwyn, Linkman, and Kohara may do best.

SHORT HANDICAP (harness), of 175 sovs.; 3.1 class. One mile and aquarter. Brent Zolock .. scr Drift Wave .. scr Golden Morn .. scr Richmond Lass scr Grace Logan . scr Bingen Maid .. 12 Grand Canyon scr Warrenore .. 12 Lady Author .. scr Jessie Huon .. 24 Llewellyn .. scr Nelsonian .. 24 Mae Locanda . scr Rafa 24 Reylet scr Star of Hope 36 Solitude .... scr Glenlake .... 48 Steel IFire .. scr Anon 60 Te Alke scr

The field in the Short Handicap is much the same as that engaged in the first race, the running of which should be helpful to those on the course in their search for the winner of this event. At the time’of writing I see no reason to go past Grand Canyon. Mac Locanda. and Llewellyn.

PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP (harness), of 200 sovs.; 5.0 class: for unhoppled trotters only. Two miles. Audo Spray .. scr Rangltero .. "4 Lady Tory .. scr Eva Reta .... 36 Robert Todd .. ser St. Petrdx 16 Bon Boy .... 12 Miss Leda .. 00 Deceitful .... 24 ’ Great Way .... fi o Peter Eyre ... 24 Nelson Parrish GO Wah 24 Tamahine .... 60 Great Harvester 24 Ukelele Lady .. 144

There is only one fresh horse in tho President's Handicap, and that is Deceitful, who went 4.56 3-51 when she finished third to Wall and Peter Eyre in the Tomoana Handicap at Hawke's Bay in June. She was then conceding Wnh 48 yards, and Peter Eyre 12, and a repetition of that form should find her handy at the close of this race. Of tlie others. Peter Eyre and St. Petrox may do best at two miles, the former having a record of 4.57 1-5 and the latter 4.53 3-5. St. Petrox was fourth in a two-milc race at Metliven recently. WELLINGTON HANDICAP (harness), of 250 sovs.; 2.55 class. One mile and a quarter. El Direct .... scr Halmore .... -4 Kelp scr High Sea .... -4 Loiterer .... scr Royal Comrade 36 Rev Child .... scr Cora Taeks .. 36 Sonoma Star scr Curfew Boy Haydock .... scr Dilnou 36 Cushla D’Or ... 12 Arlkitoa 48 Hostess 12 Zeila 48 Logan’s Pride 12 Avenger .... «' Red Roy .... 12 Hector’s Own . <2 Aleron 24 Trampfast 81 Tlie day's racing will be brought to .u close with the .Wellington Handicap. In order to cater for the large attendance expected at Hutt Park to-day, the Railway Department has made arrangements for a fast and frequent train service to run direct to the course.
