ARAB DEMONSTRATION
PERMITTED AT WAILING WALL IN AUGUST BRITISH FORCE TO WEAK TO STOP IT (Rec. October 31, 11 p.m.) Jerusalem, October 30. Giving evidence before the Palestine Commission, Major Saunders, Acting Police Commander, admitted that the Government permitted an Arab demonstration at the Wailing Wall on August 16. Any attempt to prevent it would have resulted in the beginning of a general massacre. He added: “With the small force of British police and special constables at our command I have not the slightest doubt that there would not have been one of us left.” _____
