KILBIRNIE SCHOOL

PARENTS’ AFTERNOON. An invitation to visit the Kilbirnie School on Wednesday afternoon was accepted by over two hundred parents and friends, who availed themselves of the opportunity of seeing the children at work and of meeting the teachers. The ordinary school routine was observed as closely as possible, and the visitors were greatly interested in watching the young folks tackling the three R’s in a manner which was, as' many remarked, "very different from the time when we went to school!” A display of folk dancing and physical drill during the interval afforded great interest, and the way in which the children's “tripped the light fantastic” aroused favourable comment. The children’s work in drawing, painting, composition, etc., was available for inspection, and many parents took the opportunity of discussing their children’s progress with the headmaster (Mr. Prows Broad), and the members of the staff. It was generally felt that the afternoon had been a pleasurable and profitable one for all concerned, and the desire was expressed that similar afternoons would be held regularly in the future.
