WELLINGTON MEETING FURTHER REVIEW OF THE FORM

A further Instalment of the review ot the form of the horses engaged at the Wellington Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday is given below. Borough Handicap. Aleron is a five-year-old gelding by Oinako—lmperial Ann. Last season lie raced five times unsuccessfully, but commenced the current season in brilliant fashion bv winning the Karamea Handicap at Addington in September in Jmm. 22sec. He has yet to prove himself at two miles. u t>„„ Curfew Bov is a five-year-old by Bey de Oro Curfew Bell.. He started ten times last term, securing a second at Ashburton in December, registering 4.42 1-5, while at Forbury in January he won the Gore Handicap of If miles in 3.27. Out of seven starts this season he has one placed performance to his credit. -This was registered at Addington in August when he ran third to Locanda Boy and Morning Sun. He was then on a 4.40 mark, but did not run up to that time, the track being on the slow side. Blchore met with a fair measure of success last year, winning a couple gfi'races. and being placed in two others. His best time over two miles was the 4.39 he registered at the Manawatu meeting in March. He has raced much better since going into Mr. Corrigan’s stable. Muriel de Oro is a four-year-old filly who commenced her three-year-old career bv winning the first two races she contested, and being placed third In the next. This was in the New Zealand Derby, when she was third to Wrackler and Granity Light, her time being 3.25 3-5. This year she accounted for a mile race at New Brighton, registering 2.15 3-5. She has yet to prove herself at two miles, but there appears to be no reason why she should n °Arl S M y Toa, by Taraire—Red Cross, registered two wins, a second, and a third last season, his best time for If miles being 3.30. At Westport in December he won over 16f furlong in 4,.j6 in holding "olng, and so should not. be troubled by the two miles. This year he won over If miles at Methven, and repeated the performance at New Brighton, registering Vendome raced twice.last season, winning her first race. This was at Forbury in May. This year she won the Northland Handicap, of two miles, in 4.40, while at Auckland on Saturday she won over a mile and a quarter in 2.48 1-5. Cornelian during the past two seasons has won one race each year. At the Waikato meeting last March she won the Raglan Handicap from Limosa and Rolfe Audubon in 4.35 2-5. She raced unsuccessfully at the recent Auckland meeting. Flrpo is an old friend. At one time he was regarded as'a fair mile horse, but was not looked upon as being possessed of the necessary stamina to win over two miles, Last season he won over, two miles at. New ..Brighton, recording 4.40 1-5, and one mile at Addington in June, when, on a fast track, he registered 2;14 2-5. His best time at two miles is 4.39, which he established at Forbury in May, when he ran second to Lindbergh. Hector’s Own has shown good form over all distances. She won two races last year, but her best time over two miles was that put up by her when she ran third to Neerson and Avenger at Addington in April, when she went 4.36. She has had ten starts this year, being placed third over a mile at New Brighton in 2.14 2-5. Great Logan has not quite come up to expectations, but at times has raced very promisingly. She has twice registered 3.29 2-5 at a mile and a half, while she has winning performances of 2.14 3-5 for a mile and 2.47 3-5 at a mile and a quarter. Like some of the others, she has yet to prove herself, at two miles. Zella has speed and can stay. Last season her best performance over two miles was registered at Manawatu in March, when she went 4.39 1-5. This year she ran second to Cdhrnel in the Belgium Handicap at Addington, registering 4.32 2-5. Sir Author is a good ?sort. Out'of seven starts last season he was twice first and once third, taking 3.23 2-5 at a mile and a half and 4.42 3-5 at two miles. This season he won at the first time of asking. That was at New Brighton recently when he accounted for the Waimairl Handicap in 4.37 3-5. Sunfish won over two miles at Auckland last year, registering 4.35 1-5, and was also second at Northlands a few days later, going 4.41 3-5. This year he has shown consistent from winning at New Brighton over a mile In 2.13 2-5, which time he equalled at Auckland recently. He was also placed second to Vendome up north In a mile and a quarter race. Avenger is getting on in years and‘does not race too solidly when the pressure Is applied. He failed to win a race last year, but wbnt 4.33 1-5 when he finished second to Neerson in the Welkin Handicap at Addington in March. This year he was second at Methven, his time being 4.37 2-5. Steel All has no recent form to recommend him., . Trampfast proved that he is as well as ever he was by winning the Oamaru Handicap at Oamaru last Monday in 4.28 3-u.

Borough and Wellington. Handicaps. Cushln d’Or has shown splendid form this season, having already won two races and being second twice. At New Brighton she registered 3.25 3-5 at a mile and a ha El Direct surprised most of us by running a mile and a half at Addington in September in 3.24. Prior to that his best time had been 3.32 2-5. Glenlake took a record of 3.31 3-5 when ho won at Ashburton in June. Hilltop won a couple of races last season. registering 3.34 for 12 furlongs and 4.46 3-5 at two miles. Keep contested five races last season and was only once out of a place. At Addington in June he finished second to Wild Bingen in the Maturity Handicap, going 3.30 2-51 He is one worth keeping an eye On pieasant Wave won a mile and a quar-.

ter race at Winton last November, but was subsequently unplaced in each of her £onr starts. This season she has had three unsuccessful outings. . rr t Rey Child was twice placed at Kaikoura last season, while this y.ear he was third to Great Adventure and Nelson Gara over 10j furlongs. Salient ran a third at New Brighton, and a second at Methven-this season, re*gistering 3.31 2-5 on the former course. . He was taken to Auckland for the racing there last week-end, but failed to do any good. , Sonoma Star raced three times last season, but did not secure any prize-money. The season before he won a mile and a half race at New Brighton in 3.31 4-5. He has had three outings this year, but without result. „ . . _ Sandy Pointer secured a second and a third last year out ot four starts. He was second to Glenlake at Ashburton, reEi Haydock’has raced twice unsuccessfully this season. : Patsy Phegan was a promising youngster but subsequently raced poorly. She recently showed a bit of a return to form by running third to Arikitoa and Eugene de Oro at New Brighton, and registering Anon has not raced this season. L ast vear she won over two miles at the Banks Peninsula meeting, registering 4.44. She also secured three placed performances on the West Coast, where she registered 3.47 for 12» furlongs on a .holding track. Logan’s Pride registered two wins last season, while he was placed on five other occasions. At Wellington in February he won over miles in 3.34, while at Wanganui in April he was successful over a mile in 2.18 4-5. He is a five-year-old, and may be expected to improve. Real Huon is a classy three-year-old. Last season he was second to John Jinks in the New Zealand Sapling Stakes, .covering the 12 furlongs in 3.28 2-i>. He has Imd one outing this season. Royal Comrade is a solid sort and so far this season he has secured three wins and of seconds. At Methven he won over ten furlongs in 2.54 4-5., while at Greymouth last week-end he won at 14J and 10* furlongs, and was second over 12* ana 8* furlongs. His time for 12i furlongs was 339 3-5, while at 10J. furlongs he registered 3.3 3-5. ■ ‘ . Sonoma Child ran one second last year. This was at New Brighton in December, when he registered 3.29 2-5. He has been four times unplaced since. ' \ Hostess won one race at Nelson last year and subsequently ran into a place at Hawera Hawke’s Bay, and Auckland. Her best time at 1* miles was 3.32. Halmore has speed, but in the past has not stayed on too well. She registered a couple of wins at Wellington last season, registering 2.54 for- a mile and a quarter and 3.30 for a mile, and a half.... His last five outings we?> unsuccessful ones from a stake-earning iwint of view.. . - _ . Loiterer was once in a place out of six starts last season. This was at Addington, where he was third.to Lindbergh and Tactless, his time being 3.31 1-5. , Red Rey was raced pretty extensively last season, and showed great consistency, winning one race and being placed In ten others. He has no particularly fast time against him. At Wellington he .went li miles in 2.55 2-5, while at Marlborough In February he recorded 2.21 for a mile. High Sea won at Hawera over a mile and a quarter last March, going 2.56. He was also , placed twice over the same distance during the season, his best time being 2.53 3-5. This is probably as good as he can do. Cora Tacks registered 2.52 2-5 and 2.15 at li miles and a mile respectively last season. This season she has had four races, but has been out of a place each start. Dilnon won twice last season and was four times unplaced. At New Brighton in December he went 3.27 2-5, and won by four lengths from Sonoma Child and Arikitoa. This year he has had five outings. At Oamaru on Monday he finished third in the Puheri Handicap, a mile and a quarter saddle race, in 2.54.

The mile and five furlong starting barrier at the new course of the Wellington Trotting Club will be in front of the bank in the outside enclosure, and this will give added interest to patrons of this enclosure.
